one month old!

I can't believe our sweet little boy is one month old already!

It's amazing the difference a month makes. At two weeks, I was seriously doubting whether we would ever have another kid. (That is still up to God, but if I had my say, the answer at that point may have been no!) Ethan is a pretty great baby, but newborns are exhausting in general, and I did not take advantage of caffeine like I should have (though I feel like I've slept through October). Two weeks later, and the little man has impressed us so much - he even slept through the night on Monday!! Our pediatrician said that some babies do that at 4 weeks, and I thought he was crazy (or that those were rare instances). He hasn't repeated it since, but getting up in the middle of the night to feed and change him is getting surprisingly quick and easy... especially since he figured out what nighttime and daytime are!

Ethan's stats at one month:

Ethan's been crying all day - either for food or to be held. He's also eating really frequently, so maybe he's hitting a growth spurt? Needless to say, he's commandeered my day... and I'm okay with that :)

three weeks old

It is amazing the difference a week makes! For the most part, we get plenty of (interrupted) sleep at night - not last night so much, but most nights, he is a great sleeper and we get to sleep in 3-hour chunks between feedings. We've found that when we let him cry a little before he goes to sleep he sleeps better/longer than if we jump in as soon as he starts crying, or if he doesn't cry at all when we lay him down. We've also seen him cry with his pacifier in his mouth. What's the point if he still cries? He also really prefers to be held during the day, which makes it nearly impossible for me to accomplish anything. He knows when we lay him down and he lets us know that he is not happy about it.

ohhh good morning!

look how far I can turn my foot!

and our weekly stats...

We got lucky when we measured him last night, since he usually has his knees up like in the above pictures and won't let us stretch out his legs...

This tired mama wants to know when naptime is. I'm ready.

two weeks old

Ethan is two weeks old today!

At his doctor's appointment, we learned that Ethan weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and is 22 inches long.

His head is 14.75 inches around, which puts him in the 93rd percentile for head size.

He's in the 98th percentile for height, but only the 43rd percentile for weight. We have a long, lanky one! Wonder where that came from...

He regained all his birth weight in his first two weeks like he was supposed to, so we're happy that he is getting all the food he needs (though it certainly isn't easy on his mom!).

one week old

It's been a week since Ethan made his entrance, and I think it's been the fastest, craziest, most wonderful week of our lives. I love watching our family cuddle our son, and I especially love the way Austin looks at him, plays with him, holds him and showers him in kisses. Right now, he's fast asleep (it's daytime, of course he is asleep...) but he is as cute as he can be!

It's photoshoot time.. Let's start with last week:

And now for this week:

I got a quick shot of his eyes - he faded fast afterward

A brief stat recap:

Interested in his weekly/monthly stickers? (They transition to monthly after 4 weeks.) They're from Etsy! Though there are tons of other designs, we picked {these nautical stickers} because they fit his nursery theme. (For other designs, search "monthly onesie stickers" on Etsy.)

Looks like someone is about to wake up!
